Dundas New Venture recently launched in response to a sense of Jesus at work in Dundas, Ontario. As leaders have gathered to listen and discern together, they’ve developed insight into where they can partner and become part of good news to the people of Dundas. Here’s what leader Darin Martin recently had to say.
During a local community event Jeremy (one of our members) met the City Counselor, Arlene VanderBeek, and shared with her about the band that some of our members are part of and our desire to be a blessing to the community. As a result, this past weekend, the Martin Brothers Collective had the opportunity to play music in the town square for events hosted by both the City of Hamilton and the Dundas BIA. Neighbours came down to listen and it was a lot of fun to have people singing along to popular cover songs as they walked down the street. We were also given the opportunity to share some original songs and stories of hope.
We have also continued to meet in Dundas Driving Park on Wednesday evenings to practice being present and praying for people. A number of people have joined us on these evenings to share their stories and to connect with us. We are also feeling more at home there as we see the same people (and dogs) each week and we are learning the rhythms of this gathering place. The more we are present and listening, the more we are bumping into the same people in a variety of contexts. For us, this is evidence of God's direction as relationships naturally emerge.
