Spiritual Shift 21: From Self-confidence to Confidence in God

Description: Peter knew that he could not walk on water; his confidence to ‘get out of the boat’ was 100% based on the trustworthiness of Jesus. The same is true for us. We know that we don’t have what it takes to build the church and advance the kingdom in our own strength. We know that we are ‘in over our heads,’ and that on our own we will fall far short of all God has for us. Our confidence is in the blood of the Lamb who has opened ‘a new and living way’ for us into God’s presence. Jesus alone is the source of our confidence, and we hold unswervingly to the hope we profess in him. We do not shrink back from our calling – not because we believe that we have what it takes, but because we trust our confidence in him will be richly rewarded.
